THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday announced that free food kits will be provided for Onam in the state this year as well. The Chief Minister announced this in a press conference. The distribution of food kits began in the state when the Covid pandemic took hold. This project benefited the people. The distribution was stopped after Covid subsided. However, the kits were distributed again during Onam last year.
"Onam kits will be provided this year as well. We are planning to provide 14 items, including a cloth bag. It is expected to cost Rs 425 crore," CM said.
Pinarayi Vijayan pointed out that the government is taking action for the welfare of the people and comprehensive development.
